Four Vietnamese localities along eastern expressway push for cooperation

The four provinces and cities of Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh held a conference on February 28 to implement an agreement signed last year on economic cooperation along the eastern expressway.

These localities are located along an expressway linking from the capital city of Hanoi all the way to Mong Cai, the easternmost city in Quang Ninh Province.

According to Hung Yen Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia, the agreement is expected to open new opportunities for each locality and establish a model of regional linkage in the Red River Delta, where the mobilisation and use of resources will be optimised.

He added that this is a multilateral cooperation mechanism on a voluntary basis and on the principle of sharing benefits and responsibilities to create synergy and new values in dealing with common challenges.

Regional linkage is an inevitable trend to promote the development of each locality and helps to realise the Politburo’s resolution on socio-economic region in the Red River Delta until 2030, with a vision for 2045.

At the conference, the provincial leaders agreed on creating a regional connectivity council as a way to make the cooperation agreement become substantive and effective.

After completing its apparatus, the council will organise promotional activities with the two key markets of Japan and Taiwan (China).

The council will also hold a wide range of other activities including a forum of industrial parks, a workshop on the green business environment, a training programme for regional enterprises, and a dialogue with export-import enterprises.
