Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Muoi reported that torrential rains from November 17–21 caused more than 1 trillion VND (37.9 million USD) in losses. Five people died, one was injured, and over 2,000 households in 12 communes suffered property damage, including 74 homes destroyed or washed away. Nearly 3,500 hectares of crops were lost, alongside more than 18,000 poultry and 620 livestock. Landslides severely disrupted transport, closing the Prenn, Mimosa and D’ran passes, key gateways into Da Lat, prompting the province to declare an emergency.
Authorities have mobilised personnel and equipment to evacuate residents and provide food, shelter, water and basic necessities. The provincial VFF Committee has coordinated relief and social welfare support, distributing over 30 billion VND and tens of tonnes of essential supplies to affected communities.
The official said Lam Dong is prioritising recovery efforts at schools, health stations, and in sanitation. Landslide clearance is underway along major transport routes, with temporary reopening of the Prenn Pass expected within three days and the Mimosa Pass within 10 days.
Given the substantial damage, the province asked for financial support of 800 billion VND from the VFF Central Committee, along with 1,000 tonnes of rice and additional disaster-response equipment.
Hoai said the VFF would forward the request of Lam Dong, among the five localities hardest hit by recent floods, to the Politburo and competent authorities for further disaster relief measures.
She urged intensified monitoring of high-risk areas, proactive evacuation, provision of medical supplies, and prevention of post-flood disease outbreaks. She also called for policies on interest-rate relief and credit access to help residents rebuild livelihoods, stressing that vulnerable communities must not be left without food or shelter.
Earlier the same day, Hoai visited and delivered gifts to affected households in Ka Do commune. She also handed over 20 billion VND from the VFF Central Committee to support the province’s recovery efforts.
