Speaking with the staff there, the Party leader recalled the great career of President Ho Chi Minh, emphasising the significance of the founding father’s Declaration of Independence read before the public in Ba Dinh Square in 1945.

He said President Ho Chi Minh’s speech was the product of a great personality and a crystallisation of great thoughts on national independence and liberty, and the people’s pursuit of happiness, equality and freedom.

The general secretary added that it was the responsibility of the current and future generations to do everything to safeguard and build a beautiful country as desired by President Ho Chi Minh.

The same day the Party leader visited the exhibition on Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre, which spotlights Vietnam’s emergence from poverty to become a middle-income country.

General Secretary Trong underlined that Vietnam is a bright spot in poverty reduction and the implementation of other UN Millennium Development Goals, which has been recognised by the international community.

Vietnam also has economic and trade relations with almost all countries and territories in the world, and is an attractive investment destination with nearly US$300 billion in more than 20,000 projects.
