According to statistics, by the end of the third quarter of 2024, the number of green buildings nationwide reached about 500, with a total construction floor area of more than 12 million m2.
The number of construction works certified as green, using energy economically and efficiently, has now exceeded the target set in Decision No. 280/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2019, of the Prime Minister approving the National Programme on energy economically and efficiently for the 2019-2030 period.
In addition to the rapid increase in quantity, the type of works that have been certified has also been expanded, including those with investment capital from the state budget.
Speaking at the plenary session, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha said that in recent years, the Party, State, National Assembly, and Government of Vietnam have economically and efficiently issued many policies related to the development of works using energy and resources, protecting the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, responding to climate change, shifting the economy towards digital transformation, green transformation, and sustainable development.
To remove difficulties and obstacles to promoting the development of green buildings, in the coming time, the Ministry of Construction will continue to coordinate with ministries and branches to research and submit to the Government regulations on the list of green projects, including green building projects; guidelines on the list of projects eligible for access to green credit sources; research and propose regulations on energy labelling for construction materials in the draft Law on Economic and Efficient Use of Energy in 2025.
