The event was jointly organised by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the State Bank of Vietnam.
Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that the event, themed “A smart touch - Stimulating shopping demand”, is under the Hanoi Promotion Programme, held annually in November.
Lan noted that, through a series of activities, the “Cashless Day 2021” programme is expected to attract the participation of a large number of people, creating buying habits for consumers towards conducting non-cash payments when shopping , paying bills and others.
At the event, enterprises shared non-cash payment solutions as well as the importance of non-cash payments amidst the development of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen said that Cashless Day is an important event not only for the banking industry but also for the development of other industries, including the e-commerce sector. Through these events, consumers will gradually change their consumption and shopping habits, towards a modern and safe society, Huyen noted.
The Cashless Day programme was first held in 2020, coinciding with the Hanoi Promotion Month 2020, which attracted millions of customers at promotion points.
