BSR becomes first Vietnamese company to receive ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR), which manages and operates the Dung Quat refinery plant, has made it the first company in Vietnam to receive ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications – two major international certificates for renewable energy and carbon reduction.

The two certifications were issued by SGS Germany GmbH with the certified scope including the blending, production, storage, and trading of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The certifications are valid from March 31, 2025, to March 30, 2026.

According to Nguyen Viet Thang, BSR’s General Director, the reception of the ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications demonstrates Dung Quat Refinery’s compliance with international standards on renewable energy, energy transition, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction, opening significant opportunities for BSR to export its petrochemical and refining products to the European Union (EU) market.

He added that the recognition also ensures that the company meets regulatory requirements on greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

Furthermore, gaining ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications enables BSR to align with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards, a key factor for international investors, while refining its strategy toward sustainable and environmentally friendly development.

This milestone positions BSR at the forefront of new carbon reduction policies in the oil and gas sector, marking a crucial step toward long-term sustainability and deeper integration into the global energy supply chain.

Moreover, BSR’s certification achievement reinforces Vietnam’s presence in the global market, contributing to double-digit economic growth and ushering in a new era of potential for Vietnam’s refining and petrochemical industry.
