Dung made the inspection at two locations in Hoai Duc District and Thanh Oai District, where the ground-breaking ceremony will take place.

According to Director of Hanoi Transport Project Management Unit Nguyen Chi Cuong, the site clearance ratio has reached over 81% in seven districts that the road will pass through.

The unit has also completed the selection of construction contractors and supervision consultants and is working to finalise the construction drawings so that construction can begin immediately after the ground-breaking ceremony.

Cuong affirmed that all preparatory work has now been completed.

Concluding the inspection, Hanoi Secretary Dinh Tien Dung praised the responsibility and bold actions of the whole political system as well as the people’s support.

He added that the two neighbouring provinces of Hung Yen and Bac Ninh, where the road passes through, are also working closely with Hanoi to implement the project.

The ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 25 in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and is broadcast live on the television channels of Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Bac Ninh.

Dung noted that breaking ground is only the first step and what is more important is subsequent work and urged contractors to prepare sufficient machines and materials for construction.

Underlining the importance of the project, the Hanoi Secretary asked all localities to complete site clearance on the remaining land by the end of the year.
