The localities must diversify and improve the quality of tourism products, focusing on river tourism products, tourism associated with agricultural and ecological activities, tours to fruit gardens, resorts, sea and island tourism, he added.
The provinces and cities were required to improve their infrastructure and human resources for tourism, boost communication connectivity and tourism promotion, attract more investment into tourism, apply for technological advances and raise the competitiveness of the destinations.
Ho Chi Minh City and 13 Mekong Delta provinces and cities will continue to cooperate and exchange information in the state management of tourism, tourism product development, tourism promotion, human resources development and calling for investment.
Over the past two years, the world and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong River Delta region, have been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the tourism sector.
However, thanks to the drastic measures by the Government, Prime Minister, ministries, agencies and localities, the country’s socio-economic situation is on the way to recovery and development, ensuring the safe and flexible adaptation to the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, tourism has witnessed positive signals in gradually welcoming international visitors.
