On the afternoon of August 13, Nguyen Van Manh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, said the completion of sampling was an important step in implementing the “500 days and nights campaign”. The city completed the task earlier than required by the National Steering Committee on the Search for, Collection and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains.
After completing sampling, the city will continue to focus on searching for, gathering, and exhuming martyrs’ remains in areas where information is available. Since the beginning of the year, Hue has exhumed 10 sets of martyrs’ remains, including eight found and gathered in Laos and two found locally.
For locations where information has been provided, especially areas suspected of containing mass graves, functional forces will carefully verify the information, organise workshops, and collect, cross-check, and screen details before taking further steps. For some areas inside the Imperial Citadel, in Phu Xuan Ward, search work has not yet been determined due to the lack of clearer information.
In the coming time, Hue will continue to mobilise all levels, sectors, localities, and social resources to step up the search for and gathering of martyrs’ remains both at home and in Laos. Team 192 is expected to depart for its mission in Laos earlier than in previous years.
