PetroVietnam and HEC signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract in 2007, under which HEC was in charge of designing and constructing the plant, as well as procuring and installing all necessary equipment.

The US$234 million plant began operating in July 2010 with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes of polypropylene products.

To date, it has produced over 350,000 tonnes of products which are widely used in the automobile, construction, packaging and fiber industries.

The plant is expected to turn out around 135,000 tonnes of polypropylene and earn over VND3,200 billion (US$153.6 million) in 2013.
