The opening ceremony of the 35th Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) Cup Cycling Tournament, titled “Land, Rivers, and Mountains Create a Strip – Hope for Victory”, took place in Hanoi on April 2.

Marking its 35th edition, the competition takes cyclists across 2,964 kilometers of the country in 25 stages. The race started at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on April 2. It will stretch through the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, and then finish in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30. The first stage was 25 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, equaling 42.5km. After that, the teams will enter the second stage, stretching 114km from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa.

At the end of the first stage, the organising board awarded the yellow shirt to athlete Petr Rikunov (Loc Troi An Giang).
