The article states that the Dien Bien Phu Victory on May 7, 1954 marked a historic milestone for the Vietnamese nation in the cause of national defence and development. It is also considered a valuable lesson in Viet Nam’s process of reform and opening-up under the major goal set by the Communist Party of Viet Nam of building “a prosperous people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilisation.”

According to the article, the Dien Bien Phu Victory was a glorious triumph that “resounded across the five continents and shook the globe.” It was not only a victory for the Vietnamese people but also a shared victory for the peoples of the three Indochinese countries, who built a fighting alliance against their common enemy. The victory shattered the foundations of old-style colonialism in Indochina.

The article analyses that although the three Indochinese countries were small in area, had limited populations, underdeveloped economies, weak armed forces, and inadequate weapons and equipment, they still achieved victory over an invading enemy possessing superior modern military strength and weaponry thanks to their noble patriotism, courage, and unwavering fighting spirit. This achievement came under the wise leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, the great and brilliant leader who mobilised the immense strength of the people and called on the entire population and armed forces to fight against the enemy.

The article affirms that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was the most glorious triumph in the history of the heroic Vietnamese nation’s struggle against foreign invaders. Recognised by both Vietnamese and world history, the victory destroyed the enemy’s strongest military fortress group in Indochina and forced the enemy to sign the Geneva Agreement recognising the independence, democracy, and territorial unity of the three Indochinese countries. The victory also encouraged and made an important contribution to humanity’s great struggle for peace, independence, democracy, and social progress.

Based on these arguments, the article stresses that the Dien Bien Phu Victory holds extremely important significance for the tradition of great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic bonds between Laos and Viet Nam.

According to the article, although 72 years have passed, the echoes and historical values of the Dien Bien Phu Victory still resonate today. It remains a source of pride not only for the Vietnamese people but also for peace-loving people around the world regarding the historical value of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Finally, the article once again affirms that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was the result of promoting national spirit, patriotism, and the will to struggle in defence of the country, independence, and sovereignty for the prosperity and happiness of the people.
