Lao newspaper praises success of Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year

The front page of PathetLao ran an article on January 16 praising the success of the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022 and underlining its importance to the special ties between the two countries.

The article stated that in the past year, Vietnam and Laos held a wide range of activities to demonstrate their great solidarity and friendship.

PathetLao cited the joint statement by Lao PM Sonexay Siphandone and Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh, emphasising the great success of the year, reviewing the comprehensive cooperation in recent times and outlining the cooperation direction in the future.

The newspaper underlined the importance of PM Chinh’s visit to Laos when the two countries were reviewing the activities of the Solidarity and Friendship Year to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic ties and 45 years of an amity and friendship agreement.

During the year, the two sides frequently exchanged delegations, with 51 from the Lao side and 64 from the Vietnamese side, and held various activities to promote cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, culture and education.

One of the most notable events of the Solidarity and Friendship Year were the ceremonies marking 60 years of diplomatic ties held concurrently in the capital cities of the two countries.

The article concluded with an affirmation that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states and peoples will remain evergreen and sustainable forever.
