>>> Vietnam hosts World Blood Donor Day for first time
In his letter sent to collectives and individuals that have played an active role in the campaigns, the State President stressed that blood donations to save lives are a noble and compassionate activity, reflecting the responsibility and sacred duty of each person.
Over the past time, voluntary blood donation movements have been closely directed by various authorities at all levels nationwide with many specific and practical activities, such as the "Pink Spring Festival," "Red Journey," and "Pink Drop Festival.”
There are more and more new models of blood donation appearing in localities, such as "Blood Donation Day," "Blood Donation Street," and "Each Commune and Ward is a Blood Donation Point."
Thanks to such efforts, blood has been provided to those in need, contributing to the meaningful campaign, “love others as much as yourself."
President Quang also highly praised multiple blood donors who have donated blood many times and those who donate blood while encouraging others to follow in their footsteps, thus contributing significantly to the protection, care and improvement of people's health.
The President asked relevant authorities and social organisations to continue paying attention to directing voluntary blood donation movement, while calling for all compatriots and soldiers across the nation to actively participate in blood donation drives for a healthy and humane society.
*On Tuesday, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh held a meeting at the Presidential Palace with a delegation of outstanding blood donors across Vietnam in 2017.

In addition to donating blood, the delegates also mobilised thousands of people to join in blood donation, helping the health sector care for patients, she added.
She highly appreciated the role of the organising committees of voluntary blood donation campaigns and the coordination between the health sector and the Red Cross Societies from central to local levels in implementing the movement.
