Localities greet first visitors of Lunar New Year

The Binh Thuan provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony on the morning of January 22 to welcome the first visitors to the province, on the first day of the Lunar New Year 2023.

The visitors came from train No. SPT2, departing from Ho Chi Minh City.

Upon arriving at Phan Thiet Railway Station, they were presented with gifts and ‘li xi’ (lucky money) from the local authorities.

Among the 300 train passengers, 50 were foreigners and were surprised at the welcome ceremony.

Dan Ohana, a passenger from France, said that he was glad to be received and presented with gifts upon his arrival. “What an interesting experience!”, he said.

* In Da Nang city, 100 visitors from Bangkok, Thailand became the first to set foot in the city during Lunar New Year.

They were passengers on flight VZ964, which landed at Da Nang International Airport on January 22.

They were welcomed with a lion dance and received souvenirs and gift vouchers to the city’s famous attractions, such as Sun World Ba Na Hills and Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park.

* At 7:30 am on January 22, the Silver Spirit cruise ship arrived at the Ha Long Port in Quang Ninh province, bringing 500 international tourists to the locality.

The passengers, most coming from the US and European countries, departed from Hong Kong (China).

Upon their arrival in Quang Ninh, they were welcomed by Cao Tuong Huy, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Huy presented flowers to the visitors and briefed them on the land and people of Quang Ninh.

He expressed his hope that the visitors will enjoy the atmosphere of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) in Vietnam.

* Also yesterday morning, the Dak Lak provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism hosted a welcome ceremony for 68 passengers on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN1603, which landed at Buon Ma Thuot Airport and were the first footers in the locality in Lunar New Year.
