The Vietnam and Malaysia teams both made a strong start at the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, with each having secured a victory, against Laos and Nepal respectively.

In Group F, Malaysia and Vietnam are the two main contenders competing directly for the only spot to advance to the 2027 Asian Cup final tournament. Therefore, the upcoming clash between the two teams on June 10 is being viewed as a pivotal first-leg final in the group.

Recently, while speaking to The Star, head coach Peter Cklamovski acknowledged the importance of the match against Vietnam.

“That game is huge – we’re up against the top team in South-East Asia. We are also planning friendlies, and the federation are helping to make that happen,” he said.

Regarding the approach and playing style of the Malaysian team, coach Peter Cklamovski affirmed that his team will aim for an all-out attacking style against every opponent.

“I am intense on the field because I want to play aggressive, high-tempo football and that starts with how we train. I’m here to do something meaningful for Malaysia,” he stressed.
