Quang made the request while chairing a conference with local leaders in Soc Trang Province on February 14.

National target programmes are a tool to support the implementation of the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan, in which resources will be prioritised to deal with urgent social issues.

At the conference, Mekong Delta provinces reported on the progress of the programmes and expressed their determination to successfully implement them to enhance the people’s standard of living.

Deputy PM Quang directed ministries and central agencies to work with local authorities to focus on addressing the difficulties facing the programmes and step up the disbursement of capital.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, nearly 8.8 trillion VND (372 million USD) has been allocated to the southwest region for the 2021-2025 period towards the implementation of three national target programmes, namely building new rural areas, promoting socio-economic development in ethnic areas, and sustainable poverty reduction.

The allocated fund for the region in 2023 is 2.2 trillion VND (93 million USD).
