President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin spoke about this at an event dedicated to the opening of metallurgy facilities.
The President said he was proud of the contribution of metallurgical industry workers to the country's economy.
It is necessary to carry out extensive modernisation of metallurgical production facilities, he said, adding that over the past time, the metallurgical industry in the Russian Federation has become increasingly equipped with higher technology, and this opens up new opportunities in many fields, from aviation and astronautics to electronics and medicine.
The President also noted that it is important that metallurgical enterprises actively convert modern technology and equipment to meet the requirements of the Clean Air Federal Project. To achieve that, manufacturers will fulfil their obligations in updating technology and minimising harmful environmental impacts.
