The request was made by Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung during a working session with Russian Minister of Sports Mikhail Vladimirovich Degtyarev in Moscow on July 4.

At the event, Minister Degtyarev highly appreciated the active participation of Vietnamese athletes in sports events held by Russia.

For his part, Minister Hung congratulated Russia on its achievements in sports, especially the successful organisation of the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and the Games of the Future initiative.

Both sides spoke highly of the fine development of Vietnam-Russia sport cooperation on the foundation of the long-standing friendly relationship and agreed to establish a working group on cooperation in sports.

In addition, both countries will encourage their athletes to take part in sports tournaments held in the other country and continue to support each other at international sports events and forums.
