Military transport unit honoured with Second-class Fatherland Defence Order

The Department of Transport under the General Department of Logistics, Ministry of Defence, was presented with the Second-class Fatherland Defence Order at a ceremony held in Hanoi on June 15.

Colonel Nguyen Hoang Nam, Director of the Transportation Department said that after 75 years of establishment, the military transport unit has continuously developed under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of Defence, and the General Department of Logistics.

Despite difficulties in each revolutionary period, the officers and soldiers of the military transport unit were always willing to sacrifice and excellently completed all tasks, making an important contribution to the victory of the resistance wars for national liberation and defence. Nam added that the unit’s achievements have become the pride of the entire army and the army’s logistics sector.

Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Deputy Minister of Defence, authorised by the President, presented the Second-class Fatherland Defence Order to the Department of Transport, in recognition of its outstanding achievements in training, combat service, army building and national defence, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland in the 2019-2023 period.

He also asked the Department of Transport to build a strong and mobile transportation force, at all levels and all regions of the country, in accordance with the national defence strategy, military strategies, and combat plans at each level.
