Facing a strong opponent in the semifinal, the Vietnamese player remained confident because he knows the Spaniard’s game, as they are paired together in the doubles category at the tournament.

Carlos is currently ranked 308th on the ATP rankings (against the 475th position of Hoang Nam) and was in good form after winning the men's singles championship at India F2.

The attacking tactics of both players made the semifinal a highly attractive spectacle. After the first eight games, the two players were tied 4-4 and the turning point came as Nam won the ninth game breaking Carlos’s service. Maintaining his positive momentum, the tournament’s No. 3 seed closed set 1 with a 6-4 score after winning the important 10th game.

Carlos strengthened his efforts in the second set, however, impatience caused him to make several mistakes and he lost three games in which he served. In the opposite direction, Nam expressed his confidence and effectively with each ball. The first four games ended in a 2-2 draw, but from then on, the Vietnamese player continued to hold the advantage and quickly closed the match with a 6-2 score.

The 2-0 victory (6-4, 6-2), after more than an hour of play, means Nam progresses to the final against the host’s Prajnesh Gunneswaran (No. 235), who defeated No. 8 seed Pena Lopez with the same 2-0 score (6-1, 6-4). The final will take place later Saturday afternoon.

The achievement helped Hoang Nam accumulate at least ten points on the ATP rankings.

Earlier, in the doubles category, Nam and Carlos stopped at the semi-finals after losing 2-0 (6-2, 7-6) to the second-seeded duo of the host country Arjun Kadhe and Sundar Prashanth.
