National Day congratulations extended to Viet Nam

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945–2026), leaders of various countries have sent messages and letters of congratulations to the leaders of the Party and State of Viet Nam.

★ General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Sonexay Siphandone, and Acting President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Sounthone Xayachak jointly sent congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam To Lam, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Le Minh Hung, and President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man.

In their congratulatory messages, the senior Lao leaders expressed great joy and pride at the tremendous and comprehensive achievements Viet Nam has recorded over the past 81 years, particularly during 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal). Under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic Vietnamese people have overcome countless difficulties and challenges and achieved tremendous and comprehensive accomplishments in national defence and construction. Political stability has been firmly maintained, the economy has posted strong growth, people’s living standards have steadily improved, and Viet Nam’s role and standing in the region and the international arena have continued to rise.

These glorious achievements have become valuable experience and a great source of encouragement for the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in its cause of national defence, construction and development. Despite complex regional and international developments, the Party, State and people of Laos will continue to work closely with the fraternal Party, State and people of Viet Nam to safeguard and nurture the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two Parties, States and peoples. The Laos–Viet Nam relationship will remain forever green and eternally sustainable, for the interests of the two peoples and for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

★ General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam To Lam. Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji also cabled messages of congratulations to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

In their messages, the key leaders of China congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements, noting its socio-economic stability and rapid development as well as its growing regional and international influence. They expressed confidence that, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee headed by General Secretary and President To Lam, the Vietnamese people will successfully accomplish the goals and tasks set by the 14th National Party Congress and advance vigorously towards the two centenary goals marking the founding of the Party and the nation.

The key Chinese leaders affirmed that China regards Viet Nam as a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy and stands ready to work with Viet Nam to continue promoting the traditional friendship, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and advance the China–Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in an increasingly substantive and in-depth manner, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples and making greater contributions to the cause of peace and progress of humankind.

★ The Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party sent a congratulatory message to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Senate Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the National Assembly Samdech Moha Roatsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam, Prime Minister of Viet Nam Le Minh Hung, and National Assembly President of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man.

In their letters, the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party and Cambodian leaders highly valued the tremendous achievements recorded by the Party, State and people of Viet Nam across all fields in recent years, particularly the country’s economic growth of 8% in 2025, which contributed to improving people’s living standards and further enhancing Viet Nam’s role and standing in the region and internationally. They expressed confidence that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam headed by General Secretary and President To Lam, Viet Nam will achieve its development goals and become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.

The Cambodian leaders affirmed that Cambodia always attaches importance to the relationship of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability”, which the two countries have firmly built on political trust and mutual respect, assistance and support for their common interests. They expressed firm confidence that the peoples of the two countries, both now and in the future, will achieve even greater successes, helping to further strengthen friendship, solidarity and close, mutually beneficial cooperation in the spirit of good neighbourliness.

★ President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin cabled a congratulatory message to Prime Minister of Viet Nam Le Minh Hung. Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin sent congratulatory letters and messages to President of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man.

The Russian leaders warmly congratulated the leaders and people of Viet Nam on this important national celebration, stressing that Viet Nam and Russia have stood side by side through a long and challenging journey over many decades. They noted that Viet Nam has achieved impressive socio-economic accomplishments and continuously strengthened its prestige in the international arena.

On this occasion, Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia Party (URP), sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee To Lam.

★ General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK Pak Thae Song extended congratulations to Prime Minister of Viet Nam Le Minh Hung.

In their messages, the DPRK leaders extended congratulations to the leaders, Party, Government and people of Viet Nam, expressing confidence that the traditional friendship between the two countries will continue to develop extensively and substantively in accordance with agreements between their senior leaders. They also wished the Party, Government and people of Viet Nam even greater achievements in the years ahead.

★ President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral and Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) Sandag Byambatsogt sent congratulatory messages to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and President of National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, respectively.

In their messages, the key Mongolian leaders warmly congratulated the Vietnamese people on the tremendous achievements attained under the leadership of the Party headed by General Secretary and President To Lam, which have contributed to promoting economic growth and improving people’s living standards. They also affirmed their commitment to working with Viet Nam to realise the agreements reached by the two countries’ senior leaders and to further develop and strengthen the Mongolia–Viet Nam Comprehensive Partnership in the new stage of development.

★ US President Donald Trump has extended a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam and the Vietnamese people. In his message, President Trump praised Viet Nam’s independence, stressing that it stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of the Vietnamese people and as a legacy that inspires friendship between the two countries.

Welcoming the progress achieved within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, President Trump affirmed that the US values its relationship with Viet Nam as well as the two countries’ shared commitment to peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The US appreciates Viet Nam’s growing global leadership role as a founding member of the Peace Council and looks forward to building on the progress achieved and working together for shared prosperity and security.

★ Japanese Emperor Naruhito cabled a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. The Emperor extended his warm congratulations and sincere best wishes to General Secretary and President To Lam, wishing him happiness and the Vietnamese people prosperity.

★ President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam.

In his letter, President Emmanuel Macron expressed his pleasure that, through regular exchanges since To Lam assumed the position of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, the two sides have fostered a relationship of trust and friendship, helping to further consolidate the exceptionally close bonds between the two peoples.

President Macron noted that France and Viet Nam, as well as the European Union and ASEAN, share a commitment to multilateralism and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

He stressed that, alongside maintaining international peace and security, all sides must also be prepared to work for global common interests. Efforts to protect the climate, biodiversity and the oceans should continue in order to preserve these shared assets for future generations.

★ King Charles III of the United Kingdom sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam. The King stressed that this year’s National Day provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the enduring friendship between the two countries. He expressed his appreciation for the strong bilateral relationship and his commitment to continuing to contribute to developing even closer cooperation in the years ahead.

The King noted that the two countries face common challenges of the present era, particularly those relating to climate change and conservation of the natural world, and expressed hope that the two nations would continue working together to pursue meaningful and sustainable solutions.

★ On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Thongsavanh Phomvihane; Head of the External Relations Commission of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Bounleua Phandanouvong; Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi; Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn; Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov; DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui; Mongolian Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg; and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot sent congratulatory letters and messages to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam Le Hoai Trung.
