The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to UNESCO Le Hong Phan, Vietnamese expats in France, representatives from the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, as well as members from a number of related ministries and agencies and leaders of Choisy-le-Roi city.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Son recalled the historic victory, emphasising that the people of Vietnam always remember the international support received during the struggle for national liberation and development, including support from the French.
He also spoke highly of the national Doi Moi (reform) policy over the past three decades, which has brought about advancements in socio-economics, defence and security as well as in diplomatic relations.
The 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held in January promoted reforms for rapid and sustainable development, he added.
Alain Ruscio, Director of CID-Vietnam, a French-based information centre focusing on contemporary Vietnam, highlighted France’s special sentiment and support for Vietnam during times of war as well as in national construction.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will reap further successes following the achievements brought about by Doi Moi.
