The top eight men’s and seven women’s teams were chosen to take part in the final stage from nearly 70 teams in the northern, central and southern region qualifying rounds held from May to June 23.
The participants have been divided into four groups and are competing in a round robin tournament to decide the top two teams from each group to play in the semi-finals.
The overall winners will walk away with a cash prize of VND15 million, while the second and third place teams will receive VND12 million and VND10 million, respectively.
The annual tournament, co-organised by the Vietnam Basketball Federation, the Young Pioneers Newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, aims to promote and develop the sport of basketball among young people nationwide.
