Nhan Dan and Cuba’s Granma Newspaper discuss digital transformation

Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh has stressed that the newspaper is willing to share experience and cooperate with Granma - the daily newspaper of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) - on digital transformation.

Minh, who is also a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Head of the PCC's Commission for Communications and Education and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association, made the affirmation at the reception for a delegation of Granma, led by its Deputy Director Arlin Alberty Loforte, at Nhan Dan Newspaper’s headquarters in Hanoi on November 29.

The function was attended by Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen.

Minh said that since the beginning of 2022, Nhan Dan Newspaper has welcomed three Cuban working delegations, which shows the special and close relationship between Vietnam and Cuba and especially between the press agencies of the two countries.

For her part, Arlin Alberty Loforte said that her working visit is a continuation of the special friendship between Cuba and Vietnam.

At the meeting, leaders of the two press agencies focused on exchanging information about the digital transformation process.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh said that as one of six major multimedia media agencies, Nhan Dan Newspaper has made strong progresses in digital transformation and it is considered an example for digital transformation in Vietnamese press.

He emphasised that in a bid to maintain and enhance its position as the of the voice of the Communist Party of Vietnam, digital transformation will be the strategy of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the coming years.

He reported that in the past two years, Nhan Dan Newspaper has stepped up investment in software systems and equipment, and enhanced the application of modern technology in journalism while boosting the training of reporters and at the same time training a team of reporters who are proficient in both journalistic skills and using technology.

Affirming that the two press agencies have many similarities in their development strategies, Arlin Alberty Loforte said that Granma Newspaper is overcoming many difficulties and challenges to step up digital transformation in the production of multimedia and multi-platform journalistic works.

She emphasised the importance of journalism training and expressed her hope to promote cooperation and information exchange with Nhan Dan Newspaper in this field.
