Nhan Dan Newspaper delegation visits Cuba

A delegation from Nhan Dan Newspaper led by Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh is paying a visit to Cuba from June 25 at the invitation of the Cuban newspaper Granma.

At a meeting with Granma’s Editor-in-chief Yailin Orta Rivera, Minh shared about the development of Nhan Dan as the central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He said Nhan Dan has adopted digital transformation in recent years to meet the new requirements of journalism, adding that the newspaper is employing many advanced journalism technologies and is training its staff to be both good at writing and tech-savvy.

He underlined the role of young journalists in helping to build a newspaper that is appealing to future generations as well as the importance of tools to support editors to create the best journalism works.

For her part, Granma’s Editor-in-chief Yailin Orta Rivera stated that despite facing numerous difficulties due to limited resources, the newspaper’s staff are still working hard to uphold its role as a leading agency in communicating information and shaping public opinion.

She shared that Granma leaders also have plans to help the newspaper catch up with the latest trends so that it can meet the requirements of communication on Cuba’s economic model, update and exposure of sabotage plots by hostile forces, and contribution to defending the fruits of the Cuban revolution and socialism-building.

At the meeting, the two newspapers’ leaders agreed to step up cooperation in a number of fields in the future, especially in professional work, communication, publishing, and digital transformation.

While visiting the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), Minh shared his view on journalism modernisation with its chairman Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, stressing that the key to digital transformation is the change in mindset.

Furthermore, at the UPEC headquarters, Minh had a conversation with Cuban colleagues on the transformation of Vietnam’s media system in the 21st century and the challenges of artificial intelligence.
