Ninh Binh hands over list of 168 eligible candidates

The Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh Province on February 14 held a conference to hand over the list of people who meet the eligibility requirements to stand as candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and for deputies to the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

In recent time, the provincial Fatherland Front has completed the full consultation process with five steps and three rounds to introduce candidates, following the prescribed procedures and the established plan.

Although the implementation timeframe was short, the Standing Board worked proactively, urgently and with a strong sense of responsibility to select, introduce and compile the list of eligible candidates in a manner that ensured democracy, transparency and rigour.

Addressing the conference, Mai Van Tuat, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh Province, and Deputy Head of the provincial election steering body, said the candidate list meets requirements on numbers, structure and composition, including the proportion of young deputies, female deputies and non-Party deputies.

Those introduced as candidates, he noted, have firm political resolve and a record of training and endeavour; demonstrate ethics, conduct and a strong sense of responsibility; uphold internal unity; maintain ties with residents in their places of residence; and meet the standards to represent the will and aspirations of the people.

According to the report presented at the conference, based on the outcomes of the third round of consultation, delegates carefully reviewed candidate criteria, structure and composition and unanimously agreed to compile a list of 26 eligible candidates for deputy to the 16th National Assembly who are working and residing in the Province, and 142 eligible candidates for deputy to the Ninh Binh People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term.

In his directive remarks, Tran Huy Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh People’s Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee, affirmed that the handed-over list is the result of a democratic and rigorous consultation process, ensuring compliance with standards, structure and composition, and meeting requirements to improve deputy quality.

Following the conference, the Provincial Election Committee will direct the issuance of a decision to announce the official list of eligible candidates; organise public posting of the list at electoral units, polling areas, community venues and in the mass media. It will coordinate with relevant units for candidates to conduct election campaigning in line with legally prescribed procedures, content and forms.
