The annual awards aim to recognise and honour outstanding authors and press works in the field of external information and contribute to promoting the country’s development achievements in various areas. Vietnam News Agency is the permanent organiser of the ninth National External Information Service Awards.

Addressing the press conference, alternate member of the PCC, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education, and Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for External Information, Le Hai Binh, emphasised that the Awards take place in the context that 2023 is a pivotal year, which is very important in the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The award should fully reflect the positive and effective contribution of external information work, to building and strengthening the trust of the people and international friends in Vietnam, mobilising all external resources in combination with internal strength, to serve the development goals of the country in 2023, he added.

Over the past seven consecutive editions, the National External Information Service Awards have become a prestigious and quality brand of this kind, attracting great attention from both domestic and foreign reporters. It has also been a forum for authors and groups to exchange and improve their expertise and professionalism, as well as opened up a space for external information service workers in the country and abroad, to make full use of creativity.

In 2022, the Organising Board of the seventh National External Information Service Awards received 1,172 submissions in 14 languages, over ten categories including printed newspapers, online newspapers, news websites, radio, television, photo, book, video clip and ideas. Many works, which were produced in foreign languages or by foreigners, reflected a deeper, more positive, multidimensional and comprehensive vision of the land, culture and people of Vietnam, as well as the country’s relations with the international community.
