More than 6,000 athletes joined the first Run To Live tournament held in Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, on March 10.

The event was jointly organised by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, and Miracle Entertainment Group Company.

The race was joined by top names such as Hoang Nguyen Thanh, champion of SEA Games 31; Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa; and Pham Thi Hong Le, bronze medallist at SEA Games 31.

In the men's 21km distance, Hoang Nguyen Thanh finished first with a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes, 29 seconds; in the women's 21km event, Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa came first at 1 hour, 17 minutes, 40 seconds; Pham Thi Hong Le finished in 2nd place with a time of 1 hour, 22 minutes.

In this year's tournament, the Organising Board also offered 2 additional special prizes worth 100 million VND each to athletes (male and female) who broke the record at the 21km half-marathon distance. However, no athlete broke the record.

A representative of the Organising Committee said that the event aimed to spread the motivation to practice and compete in running, inspire the practice of a healthy and happy lifestyle, and create a playground to attract a large number of running communities in Ho Chi Minh City and across the country.
