The 24x25 cm book features nearly 200 photos presenting the views of those who directly participated in or witnessed the Dien Bien Phu campaign, which is one of the most famous battles with the greatest influence on the global situation in the 20th century.

The photos are arranged into four chronological parts: from the end of 1953 when France turned Dien Bien Phu into a strong military base; the 56-day period from March 13 to May 7, 1954, when the Vietnamese army crumbled the Dien Bien Phu stronghold to bring an end to French colonial rule in Vietnam; and notable events happened as the result of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Also on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the Tri Thuc (Knowledge) Publishing House introduced to the public a photo book entitled ‘Dien Bien Phu In the Past and At Present’.

Meanwhile, the second part, entitled ‘Dien Bien today’, includes photos on the landscape and culture in Dien Bien, the province’s armed forces of Dien Bien Province, and the sentiment of Ho Chi Minh City authorities and people towards Dien Bien.

Major activities hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association in Dien Bien Province were also introduced in this part.
