The section has a total length of 98.8 kilometres, of which the 49 kilometres from the Mai Son Interchange to the Dong Xuan Interchange were recently put into service from April 29.

Currently contractors are working on the 43-kilometre-long National Highway 45-Nghi Son section and the 6.5-kilometre-long Nghi Son-Dien Chau section.

At the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the contractors to accelerate the progress of the projects while ensuring both quality and labour safety.

Noting that the difficulties concerning building materials have been now resolved, the government leader called for greater efforts to complete the remaining elements by September 2.

He also requested the Ministry of Transport to study the appropriate locations for service stations along the north-south expressway when it is put into use.

In the meantime, Thanh Hoa Province has required to arrange funds to build the roads linking the north-south expressway with National Highway 1, the Ho Chi Minh Highway and the coastal road in order to open new development spaces.
