Former President Truong Tan Sang receives 50-year Party membership insignia

The insignia for attaining 50 years of Party membership was presented to former Politburo member and former President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on August 8.

The presentation ceremony was held by the Party Central Committee Office and attended by Politburo member cum Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, former Politburo member and former Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh, and Politburo member cum Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

On behalf of the Politburo, Vo Van Thuong granted the 50-year Party membership insignia to former President Truong Tan Sang, recognising him for his great dedication and contribution to the Party and State revolutionary cause.

Politburo member Thuong said that since being admitted to the Party, former President Truong Tan Sang has always remained steadfast and been absolutely loyal to the Party and State regardless of being imprisoned and tortured by the enemy.

Former President Truong Tan Sang was admitted to the Party in late 1969.

He held many positions at both grassroots and central levels, such as Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, Permanent member of the Secretariat, and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
