The request was made at a meeting in Hanoi on January 6 to review the implementation of the co-ordination between the President and the Praesidium of VFFCC in 2010 and plans for 2011.

President Triet stressed that the strength of the great national unity bloc plays a significant role in national industrialisation, modernisation and international integration, as well as in national construction and defence.

He also praised the VFFCC for accomplishing significant achievements in 2010 despite facing many difficulties and challenges. Many activities launched by the Fatherland Front have met with a warm response from the people, organisations and unions such as the 'Day for the Poor', 'Vietnamese Give Priority to Using Vietnamese Goods', the 'Entire People Unite to Build a Cultural Life in Residential Areas', and so on.

The year 2010 saw close co-ordination between the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee and the President in building the Party and a socialist State governed by law that reflects the voice of the electorate and all citizens to the Party and State and contributes to protecting and caring for people's rights.

The State leader urged the Praesidium of the VFFCC to continue to co-ordinate with the President to achieve the nation's socio-economic targets for 2011-2015, especially in strengthening the great national unity bloc. He also requested the VFFCC to promote patriotic emulation movements, mobilise people to join in building the Party, reducing poverty and maintaining political security and social order.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and President of VFFCC Huynh Dam also attended the meeting.
