The senior state official had a working session working with key leaders of the northern province on September 13, discussing the local socio-economic development, national defence and security and Party building work.

At the meeting, Chairman of People's Committee of Tuyen Quang Province Pham Minh Huan informed that in three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018 and the first eight months of 2019, Tuyen Quang has completed and exceeded all major socio-economic development targets.

Specifically, the total GDP per capita in 2018 reached VND36 million/person, increased by 1.3 times compared to 2015. The province has proactively built a brand of planted forest timber by certifying plantation forests according to international standards. It is among one of the provinces with the highest forest cover rates nationwide, at more than 65%. The province's business and investment environment has been improved, attracting a number of large corporations and creating a driving force for local socio-economic development.

Tuyen Quang authorities also proposed to the vice state president and the delegation on financial support for the province to conduct site clearance compensation for a highway project connecting Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho route with Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, while settling the remaining capital for a project on residential resettlement for Tuyen Quang hydropower plant, as well as soon deciding on the adjustment of administrative boundary expansion for Tuyen Quang city.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Thinh highly praised the achievements of Tuyen Quang, saying that the province should pay attention to directing and striving to fulfil the socio-economic development targets set by the 16th Provincial Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term.

The vice president noted that the province should re-evaluate the achieved results in the past five years and set new directions for the future development, with a focus on finding breakthroughs and key solutions to exploit the local strengths and potentials.

She emphasised that Tuyen Quang province should continue to pay attention to the implementation of four emulation movements launched by the Prime Minister, including those on building new-style countryside, joining hands for the poor, boosting integration and development of Vietnamese enterprises, and enhancing office culture among public officers. Through emulation movements, the province should timely detect, reward and replicate the good models in implementing the movements, she suggested.

On the occasion, Vice President Thinh and her entourages presented scholarships and mid-autumn festival’s cakes to Tuyen Quang children, as well as presenting reference books to five libraries in the province.
