Vietnam, Israel enhance defence ties

Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh has asked the defence ministries of Vietnam and Israel to accelerate the implementation of their agreements in order to further strengthen bilateral co-operation in defence.

During his reception for Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence Dan Harel in Hanoi on March 2, Minister Thanh welcomed the Israeli defence delegation’s visit to Vietnam, saying that it will help step up the bilateral defence relations.

He stressed that the Vietnam and Israel defence ties have seen increasing developments in recent times, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, development and prosperity of both countries, as well as the region and the world.

For his part, Dan Harel stated that he is delighted at recent developments in the relations between the two nations, including the defence ties.

He informed the host of the outcomes of his talks with Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh.

During the talks, the two officers discussed measures to further strengthen defence partnership in the future, while comparing their notes on regional and global issues of common concern

They signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence co-operation after their talks.
