Vietnam, Cuba promote court co-operation

Court sectors of Vietnam and Cuba shared their experience in judicial reform, law making and training during talks between the Chief Judge of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court, Truong Hoa Binh, and his Cuban counterpart Ruben Remigio Ferro in Hanoi on July 2.

During the talks, Chief Judge Binh expressed his belief that the delegation’s working visit would contribute to reinforcing and promoting co-operation between the two countries.

He briefed the Cuban guest on Vietnam’s judicial reform process, including reforms in the courts, noting that the country reaped remarkable achievements and brought crucial changes to the jurisdiction and organisation structure of its court system.

For his part, Ruben Remigio Ferro, who is on a working visit to Vietnam from June 30-July 5, affirmed that the Cuban Party and people, as well as his agency in particular, treasure and wish to foster the traditional friendship and all-around co-operation with Vietnam, especially in judicial affairs.

While sharing his country’s experience in reforming judiciary, he said Cuba hopes to receive assistance from the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court and learn from its experience.

The two officials agreed on directions for future co-operation, expressing the hope that the connection between the courts of the two nations would be further enhanced.

On the occasion, Binh presented the insignia ‘For the Cause of the Court of Vietnam’ to Ruben Remigio Ferro and Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Herminio Lopez Diaz in recognition of their important contributions to the development of the Vietnamese courts.
