The CPVCC's Secretariat Vuong spoke highly of the achievements Laos has recorded in its three years of implementing both the resolution adopted at the 10th National Party Congress as well as the eighth five-year socio-economic development plan.
He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the management of the Government, and the supervision of the NA, Lao people will be able to overcome any difficulties and challenges to reap greater attainments during the renewal process.
The official noted with pleasure the progress made in the special solidarity between the two countries across many fields, which, he said, is attributable to the contribution of Vietnamese and Lao legislative bodies. The progress has brought pragmatic benefits to the people of each country, as well as solidifying peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Vietnam will do its utmost to preserve and deepen the special solidarity, the CPVCC's Secretariat affirmed.
He used the occasion to thank the Lao Party, NA, Government, and Lao Front for National Construction for their activities to commemorate former General Secretary of the CPVCC Do Muoi and President Tran Dai Quang who passed away recently.
The CPVCC's Secretariat Vuong also extended sympathies to residents in Attapeu province over the great losses caused by the dam collapse last July.
Applauding the past cooperation between the two legislative bodies, the official voiced his belief that the legislatures and their committees will step up the affiliation and exchange of information and experience, as well as instructing ministries, agencies, and localities to implement high-level agreements between the two countries and cooperation programmes reached by the NAs.
He urged the two NAs to closely coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums, as well as sub-regional cooperation mechanisms, and work together to deepen collaboration and connectivity within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He proposed the Lao NA Chairwoman instruct the revision of existing mechanisms, policies, and laws and the making of necessary supplements and amendments in order to bolster trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Speaking of the Lao NA House – a gift from the Vietnamese Party, State, and People to Laos –, the CPVCC's Secretariat called on the Lao side to adopt specific mechanisms to facilitate the construction.
For her part, Pany Yathotou congratulated Vietnam on the past achievements the country has reaped and said she believes that under the CPV’s leadership, the Vietnamese people will be able to gain even more in the reform process.
She expressed her delight at the development of the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, adding that the Lao Party, State, and people will make all-out efforts together with Vietnam to cultivate the relationship.
The Lao top legislator told her guest that Vietnamese and Lao legislatures will effectively realise their cooperation agreement, covering the sharing of information and experience in law-making, supervision, and decision-making on major national matters.
The same day, the CPVCC's Secretariat Vuong visited former General Secretary of the LPRP and former President of Laos Chummaly Sayasone at his private home. The CPVCC's Secretariat Vuong conveyed Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other Vietnamese leaders’ regards and wishes of good health to the former Lao leader, while briefing him on the general situation in Vietnam, as well as the specific results of his visit.
The CPVCC's Secretariat thanked the Party, State, and people of Laos for supporting Vietnam in both the past struggle for independence and the current national construction and defence, while expressing his hope that Chummaly Sayasone will continue contributing to the reinforcement and development of Vietnam-Laos ties.
For his part, Chummaly Sayasone showed his delight at the growth of the special solidarity and friendship between the two countries. He thanked the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for giving Laos timely and effective help in the past, underlining that he hopes the two sides will collaborate closely in efficiently implementing agreements reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and countries.
During his stay in Laos, the CPVCC's Secretariat also had a working session with officials of the Embassy of Vietnamese in Vientiane, and visited the Laos’ National Assembly building and the branch of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam.
