Politburo member receives delegation from US Treasury Department

Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh hosted a reception in Hanoi on February 5 for a delegation from the US Department of the Treasury led by the Acting Assistant Secretary of the department, Mitchell Silk.

Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State attach importance to relations with the US, one of the leading partners of the country, and wish to continue promoting the ties on the basis of mutual benefit.

The two sides should work towards the common goal of bringing growth and employment to both countries. The success of economic, trade and investment cooperation will be the driving force to promote relations between the two countries, the official added.

He welcomed the United States' initiatives in cooperation and investment in the region which have contributed to the motivation of sustainable development in Vietnam and other countries. He also showed appreciation for the positive results after the working sessions with Vietnamese agencies, and stressed that Vietnam wishes to promote cooperation in infrastructure and energy financing with the US in the spirit of the agreement signed by the two sides.

At the meeting, Acting Assistant Secretary at the US Department of the Treasury Mitchell Silk highly appreciated the vision and achievements of the Party and State of Vietnam in economic development. He affirmed that they will continue to accompany and coordinate closely with the Party and Government of Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and the US.
