In his opening remarks, HUFO President Nguyen Muoi noted with pleasure that despite historical ups and downs, fine relations between Vietnam and Czech have been constantly promoted.

He stressed that Vietnamese people always keep in mind the material and spiritual support of the people and the Government of the Czech Republic in Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation as well as in regard to today’s construction and defence.

He highlighted the sound development of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between the two countries in recent years. Two-way trade turnover in 2019 reached US$1.2 billion.

In particular, despite the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, this figure has seen a year-on-year increase of 30% in 2020 so far.

While conveying this thanks for the valuable support of the Czech Embassy in Vietnam to the HUFO, he pledged that the HUFO will make every effort to work as a bride linking the peoples of the two countries and contributing to fostering the bilateral multi-faceted cooperation.

For his part, Czech Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Lukas Musil expressed his thanks for the HUFO for hosting the meeting, adding that such activities have contributed to increasing the mutual understanding, solidarity and traditional friendship between peoples of the two countries.

He also highly valued the Vietnamese Government and people as well as Overseas Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic for their recent support for the Czech Government and people in preventing and controlling COVID-19.
