Speaking at the ceremony, Dung emphasised the friendly neighbourliness between Vietnam and Cambodia as well as the two countries’ tradition of mutual sharing and assistance during times of difficulty.
He expressed his hope that the aid would contribute to helping Cambodia soon bring the pandemic under control, stabilise the situation, and continue to boost the economic recovery and development process.
The deputy minister took the occasion to thank the Cambodian Government for supporting the Vietnamese community in the country, while highly appreciating Cambodia’s implementation of COVID-19 vaccinations for diplomatic delegations, including officials and staff in Vietnamese representative agencies.
For his part, Cambodian Ambassador Chay Navuth expressed his deep gratitude for the support of the Vietnamese Government and people, hailing Vietnam’s timely aid as an important addition to Cambodia’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
He applauded the success of the Vietnamese Government and people in implementing the dual goals of containing the disease and promoting economic development.
This is the second support package offered by the Government of Vietnam to the Government of Cambodia in response to COVID-19 thus far.
