Assuring his guest that the Vietnamese Party and State value strategic partnership with France, Trung hailed the outcomes of the French minister’s talks with Vietnamese Minister of National Defence and his meeting with the Prime Minister.

Vietnam highly appreciates France's role and contributions to peacekeeping, cooperation and development in Europe and the world, he said, adding that Vietnam supports France's initiatives in the Indo-Pacific as well as its participation in ASEAN-led mechanisms.

He wished that the French minister’s visit would be a success, contributing to further strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership across various areas, especially in national defence.

Lecornu, for his part, spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements over the past years, and affirmed that France always attaches importance to strengthening and deepening ties with Vietnam.

He described his visit as a reflection of the strong friendship and determination to cooperation for mutual benefits and development of both countries.

As a member of President Emmanuel Macron's La République En Marche Party, he echoed Trung's sentiment regarding the importance of cooperation through Party channels to ensure the long-term sustainability of bilateral strategic partnership.

Their discussion also included an exchange of views on global and regional issues of shared interest.
