The event was attended by Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations; Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama; Ambassador Nguyen Quang Khai, President of the Viet Nam Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People; Pauline Tamesis, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam; Murad Sudani, President of the Palestinian Writers’ Union; representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations; Vietnamese friends who love and support Palestine; and members of the Palestinian and Arab communities living in Viet Nam.

The commemoration took place against the backdrop of the Palestinian people continuing to endure severe losses caused by more than two years of ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip, resulting in significant casualties and further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. In this difficult context, the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025, has brought a glimmer of hope for international efforts to end the violence and advance a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace process.

Addressing the ceremony, Dong Huy Cuong, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations, stressed that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People provides an occasion for the international community to reaffirm its moral and humanitarian commitment to the sacred and legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, while also underscoring Viet Nam’s consistent stance in support of a peaceful solution based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam, welcomed the ceasefire agreement, describing it as an important opportunity to scale up humanitarian assistance and intensify diplomatic efforts, while calling for timely and unimpeded access for aid to Gaza.
