Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse helps Laos in fight against COVID-19

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Paksecity, Laos’ Champasak province has actively mobilisedthe Vietnamese community in Laos to join hands with southern Lao provinces to overcome the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vietnamese Consul General in Pakse Bui The Dung has said the Vietnamese Association in Champasak and Salavan provinces as well as Vietnamese enterprises in the southern provinces of Laos have enthusiastically donated money and supplies to support the local fight against the pandemic.

As of May 12, over VND600 million (US$25,900) had been donated to the southern provinces in Laos to assist in the struggle.

The Vietnamese community in Laos has continued to call for donations to support the local government there.

Dung noted that the support of the Vietnamese community for Lao people in for southern provinces has demonstrated the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, and deep affection between the two countries, contributing to consolidating the great tradition friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse is one of the three Consulates General of Vietnam in Laos,covering diplomatic affairs in the four southern provinces of Champasak, Attapeu, Sekong and Salavan,home to about 8,000 Vietnamese.
