Politburo member Phuc was briefed on the province’s preparations, including building plans on organising meetings with nearly 200 local candidates. Wards and communes were directed to compile lists of voters, make ballot boxes, and print documents, posters, ballots and voter cards. Generally, the preparations were on schedule and in compliance with legal regulations.
The official praised the efforts and asked local authorities to follow directions of central and provincial agencies to ensure safety and regulations on the elections; review preparations; enhance communication to people on the event; examine the number and quality of candidates; and ensure security and order for convenient and safe elections.
Earlier, Phuc and his entourage laid flowers and offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at the A1 Cemetery and planted a memorial tree at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum.
