Politburo member examines preparations for coming election in Dien Bien

Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the National Electoral Commission Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and examined preparations for the elections of the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils deputies for the 2016-2021 tenure in the northern province of Dien Bien on March 13.

Politburo member Phuc was briefed on the province’s preparations, including building plans on organising meetings with nearly 200 local candidates. Wards and communes were directed to compile lists of voters, make ballot boxes, and print documents, posters, ballots and voter cards. Generally, the preparations were on schedule and in compliance with legal regulations.

The official praised the efforts and asked local authorities to follow directions of central and provincial agencies to ensure safety and regulations on the elections; review preparations; enhance communication to people on the event; examine the number and quality of candidates; and ensure security and order for convenient and safe elections.

Earlier, Phuc and his entourage laid flowers and offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at the A1 Cemetery and planted a memorial tree at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum.
