Receiving Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Habib El Malki in Hanoi, on December 18, the State leader said there remains much room for Vietnam-Morocco collaboration and the leaders and people of both countries need to work together to further develop the bilateral ties.

The two sides should maintain the exchange of delegations at all levels and people-to-people contact, he said, expressing his wish that they would enhance their cooperation in order to raise two-way trade.

He asked Morocco to facilitate Vietnamese businesses’ in accessing its market and help them to seek effective investment cooperation opportunities.

“Vietnam and Morocco need to promote connectivity between their business communities, especially in potential areas such as trade, tourism, finance and renewable energy,” he noted.

It is necessary to boost tri-party collaboration in Africa in the fields of both countries’ strength, such as agriculture, fisheries and information technology, he added.

Echoing President Quang’s view, the Moroccan guest said his country is seeking to develop its relations with Vietnam, particularly in renewable energy, information technology, and agricultural product processing.

Morocco will do its utmost to further its cooperation with Vietnam, he affirmed.

In regional and international spheres, the Vietnamese leader asserted that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for the EU and ASEAN – two regional organisations with increasing role and prestige in the global arena - to enhance relations and share experience.

He thanked Morocco for strongly supporting Vietnam at international organisations and multilateral forums, and especially in its bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.

President Quang spoke highly of the role of Morocco at regional and global forums and congratulated the African country on its election as Vice President of the 72nd UN General Assembly, describing it as the international community’s recognition of Morocco’s contributions to the world’s largest body in the issues of peacekeeping, climate change adaptation and fighting terrorism.

Speaker Habib El Malki also thanked Vietnam for backing his country’s engagement in ASEAN through the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Vietnam is considered as a gateway for Morocco to enter the Southeast Asian region, he said, adding that his country is willing to bridge Vietnam and North Africa.

He also conveyed Moroccan King Mohammed VI’s statement that he treasures developing ties with Vietnam in all fields.
