Intellectuals urged to contribute to Hanoi’s development

The Hanoi authorities wish to receive more support from intellectuals to boost the capital city’s development.

Politburo member Hoang Trung Hai, who is also Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee, made the request during a meeting yesterday with local artists, experts, religious dignitaries, and the presidents of universities and colleges in the city.

On behalf of the city’s leaders, Politburo member Hai conveyed his sincere gratitude to the contributions made by the delegates for the development of a modern and civilised Hanoi. He informed and discussed with those present about the city's policies in the future, as well as measures to address the hot issues related to investment, public traffic, environmental protection and startups.

The senior Hanoi leader expressed his wish that the delegates would contribute their talent and enthusiasm in accompanying the municipal authorities as they attempt to turn Hanoi into a modern and civilised capital, worthy of its position and the love of the nation’s people.

Later the same day, Politburo member Hai also hosted a meeting with the leaders and reporters from press agencies in Hanoi.

With the largest number of press agencies operating in the country, Hanoi has received timely attention from the media and each of its steps of development and achievements have been comprehensively reflected on by the news agencies. For that reason, Politburo member Hai expressed his gratitude to the journalists for always accompanying Hanoi with the wish of further improving the capital city.

He emphasised that the press is an important information channel and a key bridge to connect the municipal authorities with local residents. He also urged the local authorities to be more active in coordinating with the press in order to effectively perform their political tasks.
