Grand military parade commemorates 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory

A grand military parade commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory took place in Dien Bien Phu City, the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien, on May 7 morning.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a flower basket to celebrate the anniversary.

The event was attended by former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Former Presidents: Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Van An; Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Politburo members: Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Secretariat and Head of the PCC's Organisation Commission Truong Thi Mai, Standing Vice Chairman of the NA Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the PCC and Head of PCC's Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the PCC and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, Minister of Public Security General To Lam, Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang, Secretary of Hanoi Municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

The ceremony also drew the participation of other Secretaries of the PCC, leaders of central ministries and agencies and some provinces and cities, revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, Dien Bien soldiers, frontline workers and youth volunteers who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

The government delegations from Lao, Cambodia, China, and France as well as ambassadors and representatives of international organisations in Vietnam also attended the event.
