Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Pham Binh Minh, made the remarks at a meeting with the newly-appointed RoK Ambassador to Vietnam, Kim Do-hyun.

The Deputy PM expressed his delight at the strong development of the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership, as well as the strengthened political trust and regular exchange of high-ranking delegations.

In particular, the RoK is the largest foreign investor in Vietnam and the second largest ODA provider and tourism partner.

The RoK has also surpassed the US in becoming the second largest trade partner of Vietnam. Vietnam and the RoK are making every effort to fulfil the target of reaching US$100 billion worth of bilateral trade volume in 2020.

The Vietnamese government official also praised the progress made in the dialogues on the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, while affirming the willingness of Vietnam to join the parties concerned in promoting the process.

Deputy PM Minh expressed his belief that, with his experience in both foreign affairs and economics, the RoK Ambassador would fulfil his tasks, contributing to fostering the bilateral relations between Vietnam and the RoK.

Ambassador Kim Do-hyun said that one of the priorities of his term in office is to strengthen the economic relations with Vietnam.

He also pledged to promote technology transfer and assist Vietnam in developing its small and medium-sized enterprises.
