Viettel chief appointed to serve as deputy head of PCC’s Communication and Education Commission

Maj. Gen. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman and General Director of the military-run Viettel Group, has been appointed as the acting Minister of Information and Communications, Secretary of the Party Committee of the ministry for 2016-2021, cum deputy head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Communication and Education Commission.

Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Organisation Commission, presented the Politburo’s appointment decision to Hung, who is a member of the PCC and of the Central Military Commission, at a conference held in Hanoi on July 27.

The event was attended by Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of the PCC, and head of the PCC’s Communication and Education Commission.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member Chinh congratulated the Viettel chief on his appointment, expressing his belief that with his experience and firm political stance, Hung would successfully fulfill all the assigned tasks and achieve great developments in his new working field.

* On the same day, Politburo member Vo Van Thuong chaired a conference, held by the PCC’s Communication and Education Commission, to implement the Politburo’s decision on personnel work.

Accordingly, the Politburo assigned Truong Minh Tuan to quit as Minister and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications, in order to take up a position as deputy head of the PCC’s Communication and Education Commission.
