The two parliamentary leaders expressed their delight at meeting each other again on the sidelines of the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-140) after the Micronesian Speaker paid an official visit to Vietnam in June 2018.

Simina said his country always wishes to enhance cooperation with Vietnam, adding that it recently adopted a resolution supporting Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021.

The two sides noted with satisfaction that the two parliaments have established and developed bilateral relations with good outcomes while promoting exchanges and coordination at multilateral forums like the IPU and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF).

They affirmed the willingness to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
